Mac and Cheese


Ingredients

Ingredient Qty.   Unit
uncooked macaroni 2   c
butter 1/2   c
flour 2   TBSP
milk 1 1/2   c
salt, slightly less than 1   tsp
ground black pepper, to taste 1/4   tsp
sharp cheddar cheese, small chunks 1   c
cheez whiz 1 1/2   TBSP


Instructions

1) Cook macaroni according to package directions.

2) Preheat oven to 350

3) While macaroni is cooking, melt butter in pot.

4) Add flour and cook, stirring constantly, for two minutes. Do not brown.

5) Stir in milk, salt and pepper.

6) Bring to slow boil and stir for a minute or two, then turn off the heat. It should be smooth and thickened.

7) Add cheeses to the white sauce.

8) Combine mac with cheese sauce.

9) Pour into 11 x 7 casserole dish

10) Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.

11) Story: This is one of Sean's favorite birthday dinners. Since he was a little kid, Ellie has been saving a bowl for him to eat before it’s baked.
